The Catch Fire – Younger Every Summer [EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE]

The Catch Fire has given me the honors of exclusively premiering their new single “Younger Every Summer” off their upcoming album, Rumormill. This is exactly what I would expect of these group of Charlotte musicians when they all got in a room and put their heads together. It’s catchy (no pun intended), it’s pop-infused rock, and it’s got the classic Jon-Lindsay-Benji Hughes-style harmonization that rolls gently along like waves on water.

MP3: “Younger Every Summer” – The Catch Fire

The Catch Fire is a newly formed Charlotte, NC band co-fronted by Mike Mitschele (Jolene, Alternative Champs, The Young Sons) and Jon Lindsay (Jon Lindsay, Benji Hughes, The Young Sons) who share writing and vocal duties. Also in the group are Charlotte’s John Cates on drums and Adam Roth on bass. The Catch Fire came together slowly out of the ashes of The Young Sons’ breakup several years ago, writing and recording what would become the songs for their upcoming debut LP Rumormill, in between tours and work on other projects. Rumormill is an 11-track LP that is sure to excite fans of upbeat, loud-yet-sweepingly-pretty guitar pop. It was tracked at home by Mitschele and Lindsay, and mixed at Charlotte’s Sioux Sioux Studios, where Lindsay also records and mixes his solo albums. Listeners will immediately note the effortless blend of the two unique lead voices, wistful lyricism and the excellent craftsmanship (both in song structure and production) that we’ve come to expect from the records of the individuals that make up this band. Details are coming soon regarding the album release date for later this year, but for now, enjoy the 2nd free single, the soaring anthem “Younger Every Summer”. And if you missed the debut of the first free single – the album’s title track – it’s still available for free download here: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/catch-fire
