My guy, YONAS, drops the third single from us upcoming EP, Going Places. Appropriately titled “This Goes Out To You” is for all the fans who’ve been there since day one, constantly supporting his music, no matter what. This is his way of giving back. I’ve been riding with YONAS ever since his “The Proven Theory” days, which is one of my favorite projects ever. I know tomorrow is #TBT, but today, for a throwback, go check out his “Pumped Up Kicks” remix if you aren’t familiar. Lyrics after the jump!
YONAS drops the first single off of his upcoming EP, Going Places. “Live It Up” is a typical YONAS joint around this time of the year. A radio friendly, summer anthem, that serves up a nice lil dose of what YONAS can do. Below is the video shot on Venice Beach, as well as, the soundcloud link!
It’s that time again for another YONAS remix where he takes on “Take Me To Church.” The video was shot during his performance with Wale in Knoxville, Tennessee. His production continues to be on point with his verses. Plus that concert looks like a great time. You can download the MP3 here.
Man, oh man! YONAS and his production team absolutely kill this Centuries remix. YONAS continues with his “remix every other week” with Fall Out Boy. You can download this bad boy here. Add this to your workout playlist, pump up playlist, weekend playlist, all the lists!
My reaction when that beat drops towards the end though…video below Andy Samberg.
YONAS has started a new remix series where he’s releasing a new remix every other Tuesday and this week, he takes Taylor Swift’s #1 hit, Blank Space, and switches it up a bit! Great job from the New York rapper flipping Taylor’s pop song to make it his own. Shout out to that guitar solo near the end…filthy.
Back in November, YONAS dropped a spontaneous release called 4AM that he recorded literally the morning that it came out. 4Am is about him saying he needs these things in life, but then he realizes he got to where he is without them. The video is a solid effort too that looks like a GoPro was used to record it (or some sort of variation).
YONAS samples John Newman’s hit track, Love Me Again and adds a couple bars to it giving it a hip hop feel. Throw this on as you enjoy your summer night, hopefully with a brew. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5! #Spurs
Sorry, I’m weird.
So I probably should’ve looked at what kind of remix this was before I started listening….because I had no idea it was a trap remix, and I was like this is different, but different good.
YONAS takes the radio hit, Counting Stars, and transforms it into a trap remix that’s just as addicting. This is his latest tune to hit the blogosphere as he’s ready to set afoot on a 26 city Spring Tour entitled “The Up All Night Tour.” You can get tix here.
I decided to take a break from watching TV on the couch all day with my beautiful dog to post this new remix from YONAS that takes Lorde’s “Team” and gives it a quick spin, adding his own touch on it. Reaaaaally diggin’ the ending of the instrumental, as well as, LOL at the line: “First / What the fuck is a Chief Keef”
We’re here to give you the premiere YONAS new track, “What More Can I Say.”
This is the third single from his new album The Transition (Deluxe) which is now available on iTunes, Google Play, etc. world wide. He definitely has a knack for catchy choruses. Check it out and let us know what you think!
We’re about one month into summer so it’s only right for the Sunset Fam to give you a dose of our favorite songs of the season so far. We’ve compiled a list that’ll make you want to cruise to the beach with your windows down, with no worries in the world. Here’s our top 20 must-have tracks to get you going for the rest of this lovely season.
1. Netherfriends – Uptown Boys
There’s not much I can say other than this jam by Netherfriends is one of the coolest songs I’ve ever heard. If I could only transport back to college and just drive around campus blasting this song with my windows rolled down. Fuck it, though, I’m just going to put my headphones on, play this song on repeat, and strut around living like it’s a summer day every day. It’s easy to dream when you’re always high. – Lydia
2. La Plage – Rendez Vous
3. Sol – Jump In
To be honest, I go back and forth on Sol. Sometimes I think his content is lacking substance. But when it comes to a summer tune, sometimes the last thing you want is heavy content. That’s part of what makes this song so perfect. It’s light, airy, and catchy as ever. music is my baby, she drive me crazy – Lydia
One of my favorite projects ever was from YONAS was one of his firsts, The Proven Theory. From start to finish, that thing was my shit. Then, he gives us The Transition which I loved. Next comes The Black Canvas, which I was indifferent about only because of the high standards I held him to. The Transition 2 is the latest from my guy.
I’m not sure if it’s the deal with 1st Round Records (home of Sammy Adams and Matty Trump), but YONAS has definitely gotten more poppy since the deal. I mean, he’s good at it, like the dude can create some catchy ass tunes, but the YONAS that dropped The Proven Theory was my favorite.
None the less, The Transition 2 is a good effort and everyone will be able to find a couple tracks on here that they like.
[UPDATE] – YONAS has just informed me that he has left 1st Round Records and is back to being independent!
