“Where there is love there is life.”
Whether or not you’re holding down a boo thang this Valentine’s Day, I wanted to put together a special FBDS playlist for the weekend with the theme of love in mind ’cause, well, you guys deserve it If you’re heart is taken, this should help you and your item get down in the right away. If you’re flying solo, send this as a mixtape to your crush and you’ll thank me later.
And remember: everybody’s somebody’s everything.
I’m not usually one for long mixes, but as I got on the bus this morning and pulled out my computer to do some work, I pressed play on the first song on my Soundcloud stream, made it through some decent and good songs, and then, just as my eyes were getting almost unbearably heavy, I came across something really funky. It seems that my buddy Viceroy is making sponsored mixes these days. Cool concept, cool music. When the “Waterfalls” remix came on, I just about started dancing on the bus. This is good stuff. I can’t say these long bus rides are ever very fun, but this is definitely helping make it more bearable. (I’ve been on here an hour already, we just took some strange detour, and I now have no idea where we are. Good thing this is an hour-long mix and I’m only at the beginning of it!) Hit the jump for the full tracklist.
This week’s best jams from EDM land is kind of remix heavy, but don’t worry, it’s worth it. Honestly, the likes of Viceroy, Ta-Ku and Gigamesh can really do no wrong.

San Fran beatsmith Viceroy ain’t nothing to fuck with when it comes to anthemic stadium jams. Summer might be over, but this remix of Lady Gaga’s “Applause” brings you right back to good times and sunshine. As his own motto goes, “summertime, all the time”.
Check out the silky, synth-laced results below.
We’re about one month into summer so it’s only right for the Sunset Fam to give you a dose of our favorite songs of the season so far. We’ve compiled a list that’ll make you want to cruise to the beach with your windows down, with no worries in the world. Here’s our top 20 must-have tracks to get you going for the rest of this lovely season.
1. Netherfriends – Uptown Boys
There’s not much I can say other than this jam by Netherfriends is one of the coolest songs I’ve ever heard. If I could only transport back to college and just drive around campus blasting this song with my windows rolled down. Fuck it, though, I’m just going to put my headphones on, play this song on repeat, and strut around living like it’s a summer day every day. It’s easy to dream when you’re always high. – Lydia
2. La Plage – Rendez Vous
3. Sol – Jump In
To be honest, I go back and forth on Sol. Sometimes I think his content is lacking substance. But when it comes to a summer tune, sometimes the last thing you want is heavy content. That’s part of what makes this song so perfect. It’s light, airy, and catchy as ever. music is my baby, she drive me crazy – Lydia
There are a lot of great things we could say about remix artist Viceroy, but we might as well stick to the basics: he’s the master of summertime electro-pop music. He’s put out a bunch of remixes that all make me wish I could spend the rest of my life by a pool or ocean. Today’s remix is of Maroon 5‘s “Love Somebody” and it does just that. It’s reminding me that I just got back from a 2-week vacation and that having a desk job can really suck sometimes (though I really do love what I do). But god it would be nice to be back by the water jamming to this song. Damnit, Viceroy, I hate you and love you for this.
“Almost nobody dances sober, unless they happen to be insane.”
Those who dance are considered insane by those who cannot hear the music.
So, lately to preface this column I’ve just been using inspiration quotes that involve dancing. Like, are guys down with that shit? I think it’s kinda dope. Here’s another one. I definitely advise to use it as a pickup line:
“I would believe only in a God that knows how to Dance.”
