Listen While You Work 1.0 started with me saying I was trying to keep my head above water at my job. I came out yesterday in a pretty personal post saying that I wasn’t going to live that way anymore. That said, I still spend many hours at work, and it’s always important to have good music to listen to at work. And so comes Episode 2 of Listen While You Work. For the most part, it’s a little more upbeat this time; you gotta keep you head up while ya work, right? This version features music from the following artists:
- Sam Smith
- Sound Remedy
- The National
- Wildlife Control
I chose to take the same method as last week and ask Facebook fans for mashup submissions, so make sure you’re a fan of the Sunset Facebook page and keep an eye out on Monday for the posts that call for submissions. It’s worked pretty well so far, so I might keep doing that. Shout out to all my homies over there (Anthony, Garrett, Josh, Elisha, and Mike) who submitted songs. We got some fire right hurr. Also, some of these are remixes rather than mashups, but they were too good to ignore, so I put them in here. Hit the jump to hear all of the songs.
1. Midnight Swimming (M83 x Kendrick Lamar) – Patombomb
2. One Day I’ll Be Rich Enough To Buy You All (Rihanna x Rise Against) – Dr. Brixx
What up ya’ll? Sorry I was absent last week; good thing the homie Arjun had my back. For those wondering, I was holding it down in La-La Land for New Years as well as the Rose Bowl to support my Badgers. Unfortunately, we came up short against a great Oregon team, but if you ever get a chance to catch The Granddaddy of Them All in gorgeous Pasadena, don’t hesitate. Fantastic weather. Anyway, how was everybody else’s New Year’s Eve? Anybody do any cray shit? Do tell. If you’re not still hungover from last weekend, here are a few tracks for you to get down to on today’s edition of FAF.
1. “Born To Die (Gemini Remix)” – Lana Del Rey
2. “Stand Up (Cheapshot Remix)” – Ludacris
3. “Somebody That I Used To Know (Myndset Remix)” – Gotye ft. Kimbra
4. “Moonlight Sonata (Sound Remedy Remix)” – Beethoven
5. “How Come You Never Go There? (Clock Opera Remix)” – Feist
My buddy was playing this at a party last night and everyone was really feeling it–I had never heard it but asked him what it was and immediately downloaded it. Been listening to it all day. Awesome, easy-going club/trance feel to this one that’s hard not to groove with. Takes the acapella from Cudi’s “Symphonies” and really turns it into something completely new. Dope. The drop into the beat is really well timed.
So unconscious, just me and my conscious
I’m running with them wild things, living to do wild things

Random Disclaimer: Hey, don’t do anything that I say in this song. OK? It’s fucking fiction. If anything happens, don’t fucking blame me, white America. FUCK BILL O’REILLY
Musically, I’m not sure how great this one is, but I still love it. FUCK IT, we’ll do it live.

I really like Ellie Goulding, I really like British MC Tinie Tempah, and I really like the womp. Through the transitive property, I like this song. Enjoy.
