This is an exciting time for Sunset, myself and of course you, the beloved reader. Just to give you guys a heads up, I’ll be on hiatus next week as I will be traveling to Manchester, Tennessee to cover Bonnaroo for ya’ll. I won’t have access to the Internets out in the country, but I’ll have a nice write up and presents for everybody when I return from the depths of my musical journey.
With that in mind, I’m giving you a whole extra song for your FAF playlist this weekend. I know, ya boy’s nice.
Enjoy the weekend, or else.
1. Yuna – Live Your Life (Dj Carnage & Jakob Lido Remix)
2. Ellie Goulding – High For This (The Weeknd Cover)
3. The Hood Internet – Fuck With Mo’ Money (Ma$e x Diddy x Biggie x Penguin Prison)
4. Adventure Club Dubstep – Rise & Fall (ft. Krewella)
5. AVICII – Two Million (Original Mix)
6. Princeton – Grand Rapids (RAC Mix)
André Allen Anjos and Co. have been killing remixes for a minute now. Like, really destroying the remix game with their endlessly creative reinventions of popular blog hits that find the Remix Artist Collective consistently atop the beloved Hype Machine. Today, Anjos released his first original track via the kind of game-changing Green Label Sound (which is cool despite being created by Mountain Dew). “Hollywood” features vocals from Penguin Prison‘s Chris Glover and is just so damn catchy.
I don’t know about you, but I’m putting this on repeat all day. I’m not afraid.
Cause you’re Hollywood, another world, you made it all on your own / With your high heels on, you kill the sun, I’m not your friend anymore
(Note: I’m really bad at translating song lyrics, please excuse any blatant/racist mistakes)
BONUS! Below is Green Label Sound’s Introduction to RAC. It features founder André Allen Anjos discussing “his development from a college student remixing tracks in his dorm room into a sought-after DJ and producer” and why he chose to put music out on Green Label Sound. Really interesting stuff.
Some penguins, when threatened with a trip to Penguin Prison, flipper out and go on a 24-hour crime spree. Others take off their tuxedos and blend in with the surrounding fauna by becoming baby snowmen.
Not these penguins. These penguins love beatings; both giving and receiving. They marched straight to prison and became resident resonance chefs. Then they took a suasive song by a succulent woman and make a miso-happy soup out of it. Throw in a dash of salt and a pinch of nipple, and suddenly you have something even your mom’s ears wouldn’t mind eating.
I have been lost lately and I do not know if I have even returned. I haven’t been here but I do not know if I have even been there. Confusing much? Probably, but what is certain is that I have been lost. My thoughts are jumbled and I do not think I have anything figured out but what I do know is that I am attempting to make my way back. To where? I have no idea but here is Penguin Prison, a man with more dualities than me, remixing Kimbra’s single “Settle Down.” The remix is upbeat and full of energy but if you want to witness the slowed down pace which is the original click the jump.
