Hey guys. Ugh, once again, I’ve missed the past couple of weeks of Mashup Mondays. But given that today is a secret and little-understood public holiday in America, I had the day off. Hell yes. You go, George Washington. He probably liked mashups, right?
3. MP3: “We Found Somebody To Dance With” (Whitney Houston Tribute) – Kapla (*RIP Whitney*)
Mashup Monday. Again? Already? Damn. Weekends go too quickly. Alright, here goes…I’ve got a handful for yall today!
1. “I’m On One” (ft. Khaled/Drake/Ross/Weezy) – Its Overture
This is a remix more so than a mashup, but it’s fun and good for summer dance parties. And don’t lie to yourself…summer dance parties ARE allowed on Mondays.
This one and the next one are off a brand new mixtape by The Friendly Giant that was released just a few days ago. There is tons more where these come from, so go ahead and download the free album here.
4. “TelePong 2011” (Lady Gaga x Wippenberg) – Paul M.B.
Don’t stop dancing yet. This is a crazy, beat-heavy face masher. Get it, Paul M.B.! Wait, can I tell yall a secret? So this mashup artist is from Finland. One time he sent me chocolate all the way from Finland. It was DELICIOUS. Since then, I’ve kept my eye on him 🙂
5. “Ayo, Avicii!” (Avicii x Hyper Crush x Gunther) – D(J+F)
I swear…Avicii is going to get me into trouble. This song (“Levels”) gets me every time. Now it’s all mashed up with some hot vocals…I’m as good as dead.
Ayo, Avicii! – (Avicii vs Hyper Crush vs Gunther) by D(J+F)
6. Womb Raider (Frisky & Foolish Edition) – DJ D.Veloped
This makes me want to act a damn fool. Who the hell am I kidding? I act a damn fool on the reg.
Gotta love supporting a local NC mashup artist!
7. “I Know Places (Lykke Li x Talking Heads) – Its Overture
Another one from Its Overture, whose music I can always trust is good without even listening. But I can listen to this one over and over again. I have such a love for both Lykke Li and Talking Heads, it’d be easy to mess this one up, but they kill it.

I’ve got a serious case of the Mundays today. Luckily I just got sent one of the better mashups I’ve heard in a while from my buddy Mochi Beats. As a bonus, he even created a video to go along with the mashup.
“Friends till the End” – Mochi Beats | Download
Songs he used in this mashup:
“With Your Friends” – Skrillex
“Till the World Ends” – Britney Spears
“Yeah 3x” – Chris Brown
“Bass Down Low” – Dev
“DJ Got Us Falling in Love” – Usher
“2012” – Jay Sean
“Longest Road” – Morgan Page ft. Lissie
“No Hands” – Waka Flocka Flame
“White Flag” – Ashlyne Huff
“Stranger” – Usher
“Hit the Lights” – Jay Sean
“S&M” – Rihanna
“Sexy Bitch” (ft. Akon) – David Guetta
“Dynamite” – Taio Cruz
“Just Can’t Get Enough” – Black Eyed Peas
Some other good mashups for this week:
Damn, Monday, you nearly threw me off the bridge today. Seriously, how do we handle having a Monday every single week? It’s mind boggling. Every week you have to endure a Monday, when you know the whole work week is ahead of you, and, for me anyway, you’ve got a pile of work on your desk waiting for your blood, sweat, and tears. Ugh, it’s too much. As always, thankful for some mashups to completely take my mind off the typical misery that comes with Mondays.
After such a long day, I wasn’t sure if I had it in me to put up a Mashup Monday. I asked for a little support from the Facebook fans, and within seconds, I got the inspiration that I needed. Thank yall for being awesome. Shout out to you.
1. “Bring Em Home” (Gold Jacket Remix) (Edward Sharpe vs T.I.) – DJ D.veloped
2. “Bam Bam Again” (Sister Nancy vs Gilbert O’Sullivan) – It’s Overture
3. “Stay Crunchy E.T.” (Katy Perry x Ronald Jenkees) – The MashMaticians
4. “In Da Lab” (50 Cent x Coldplay x The Black Eyed Peas) – Red Flag Productions
The concept of Phish is so interesting to me. I saw them live once, at ACL, and I was so blown away at the amount of absolutely diehard fans there who know every single obscure word to their songs that all seem to tell tales of random things that they’ve encountered in life. They serve a niche market, that much is clear. Personally, I think I’d love the music if only Trey Anastasio’s voice was bearable; but alas, nine times out of ten, I can’t stand the sound of it. This song, though, stunned me when I saw it live; these old men were playing the song while jumping, in syncronized movements, mind you, on trampolines. For those of you who may not attend many concerts: that is not normal. It likely takes a freakish amount of talent to figure out how to play your instrument, sing your part, and do some syncronized dance moves all at the same time.
Anyway, Its Overture, one of my new favorite remix/mashup groups, has decided to make a Phish song a bit more appealing and accessible to people who may not be Phish fans. It’s more uptempo, and quite frankly, makes me want to go buy a trampoline and see if I can play the part of guitarist and singer of Rock Band while performing some stellar dance moves on the trampoline. How much would you pay me to film that, huh?
Happy Friday at Five, everybody! Enjoy your weekend!
If I could just tell yall what a Monday it’s been. Let’s put it this way: it was my first day on the new job. One of the first things that happened…I wanted to move my desk around…the table falls over. It had two computer monitors on it. Thank GOD nothing broke. If it had, I’d be broke. Wait, I’m already broke. But hey, as several have noted already, aint nothin’ like starting with a bang! Happy Monday?
1. The Friendly Giant mashes Jack Johnson’s “If I Had Eyes” with Drake, Kanye, and Weezy’s “Forever.”
2. It’s Overture is back again…this time with less of a mashup and more of a remix. I’m cool with that. I’ll take what I can get this Monday.
First up is a song called Pop-pour-ri by a new mashup artist on the block, Ha! Yes. Yall should have seen me when I turned this on. Let’s just say the dance moves were flowing. For more mashups from Ha! Yes, download his 15-track compilation here.
Next up: a track by Mover Shaker featuring Soulja Boi and Memory Tapes. Don’t be scared off by Soulja Boi. I hate him too, but loved this track. Perhaps it’s really the Memory Tapes that did it for this one, but it sounds good.
Next is one of the better little gems I’ve heard in a while. My girl Nicki on top of THE OUTFIELD? Yes PLEASE! This is the syrup on my pancakes. Thank you very much, Its Overture.
This next one is by another newcomer The Weigs, a 17-year old high school student. This first track features A Tribe Called Quest, LMFAO, Lil Jon, Lupe Fiasco, Justin Bieber, Pretty Lights, Game, Bobby Ray, and DJ Khaled. No worries, though, DJ Kahled, the most annoying man in the world, plays a very minimal role.
Here’s another one by The Weigs featuring Lil Wayne, Owl City, and DJ Sammy. You may think, ‘Okay, Lydia, but Owl City “Fireflies” mashups are soooo overdone!” Well, I thought so too at first glance. But it sounds great in this one. Weezy is just so fluid over this beat.
