Summer is nearing its end, but summer music festivals still have some unfinished business. Lollapalooza in particular is coming up next weekend and what better to do than name all the great acts that are going to be there? The list is pretty freaking huge but I’m going to break down some of my top picks for each day. This will either help you out in forming your own schedule when you’re there or maybe I’m just putting salt in a wound since you can’t make it. Either way, hit the jump to check out the full list of top acts you need to see at Lollapalooza 2013.
One of my favorite songs of the past couple weeks has been “My Number” by Foals. When I’m not blogging, I’m listening to music and adding my favorite tracks (at least the ones that are on Spotify) to this growing 2013 Spotify playlist. When I heard “My Number” for the first time while I was listening to the British band’s 2013 album Holy Fire, the song immediately called out at me, and suddenly I was that wolf knocking at my door, bang-bangin’, askin for more. Shit, yall, I feel EMPOWERED when I listen to this song. I don’t even have anybody to yell at right now, but if I did, I imagine myself showing some serious attitude, whipping around and staring someone down while yelling YOU DON’T HAVE MY NUMBER. I DON’T NEED YOUR LOVE NOW. Fuck, I’m making up imaginary people in my mind and yelling this at them, because it’s just so fun. And you? Whoever you are, reading this right now: guess what? You don’t have my number.
My favorite thing about The Hood Internet mashups is that they use songs that aren’t commonly featured in mashups. They do it smoothly, often making you wonder what the originals sound like on their own. In this one, they mashed up Big Boi’s “Shutterbug” with Foals’ “Miami.” Quite the tasty mashup, if you ask me!
“Spanish Sahara (Deadboy Remix)” – Foals
Unnoticed, another Saturday morning has drifted by. It is now mid-afternoon and the sky is streaks of blue with patches of white suspended over rays of yellow. The thumping bass of the night before is only a ring in your ear and the rest of the daylight promises recuperation as well as preparation. Whatever activity will fill the coming night is, for now, not a concern though. It is just another Saturday mid-afternoon and besides smiling at the night before you have nothing important to do.
Take a listen to the laid back vibes of the track below and tell me what you got planned for the night to come. If nothing then show me some love and make “Spanish Sahara” (Deadboy Remix) the soundtrack for the rest of your day.
