Kid Cudi Announces New Collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and Common

Kid Cudi Indicud

Kid Cudi took to Twitter again today with announcements about tracks that will be featured on his upcoming album, Indicud. The tweets included news that he would have a follow-up track to his song “Solo Dolo” (from Man on the Moon), called “Solo Dolo Pt. II” that will feature Kendrick Lamar, and that he would have a single featuring Common, with production by 88-Keys and Dot Da Genius. When I think of Cudder and 88-Keys, all I can think about is Wasting My Minutes. That song was my JAM back in the day. Had it as my ringtone and everything! See some of Cudi’s tweets below.

WZRD – Album Snippets and Preview

WZRD Album

I woke up this morning to a message from Arjun saying that WZRD decided to release snippets of their album for the world to preview. I jumped out of bed almost immediately and clicked play. I listened a few times through, and then a few more times. I’ve come to the unfulfilling conclusion that I can’t pre-judge the album before I hear the whole thing, but I can guess what my overall rating out of 10 will be. To do this, I gave each song a (prejudiced) 5-star rating, and then calculated what that would come out to out of a full 10 stars. I end up with a pre-rating of 8.1. To be honest, I think I’m giving this album extra padding in this pre-rating. I don’t think it’s going to live up to an 8.1 just after hearing the snippets. I’m going to hope that it can, but for now it’s sounding a little too out there, and too far from Kid Cudi’s original style, for me to really fall for it. What do you guys think?

Hear two full songs (Brake and Teleport 2 Me) and see the full tracklisting here.

WZRD – Teleport 2 Me, Jamie (Full Version) and Brake (Single Version)

WZRD Album

Kid Cudi’s newest project, WZRD, has just released the full version of “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie,” off of their upcoming album. Cudi and Dot Da Genius (who make up WZRD) had previously released a snippet of this song and I immediately fell in love. Of course my main criticism of the song is that it isn’t called “Teleport 2 Me, Lydia,” but I’ll let that one slide. He didn’t want to be too obvious, right?

I watched The Bachelor tonight and as much as I love sweet Ben F., I really do love Cudder with so much of my heart. Someday he’ll find out and come running to me. I’ll be here, Scotty. I’ll even Teleport 2 U. Ugh, I’m so pathetically in love.

I can’t stand the times when I’m alone at night and I feel your side of the bed and it’s cold, hey, mm/ I’m wide awake I don’t know the time cuz I’m too busy texting you on my phone, saying/ I want you girl/ and I need your body/ Right here/ Wont you teleport to me?”

As a bonus, they also released the single version of their controversial song, “Brake.” I’m still not loving this song. I don’t hate it! But “Teleport 2 Me, Jamie” is far better, and gives me hope that the album will win my heart.

The album will be released February 28th and the full tracklist is as follows:
1. The Arrival
2. High Off Life
3. The Dream Time Machine
4. Love Hard
5. Live & Learn
6. Brake
7. Teleport 2 Me, Jamie (Feat. Desire)
8. Where Did You Sleep Last Night
9. Efflictim
10. Dr. Pill
11. The Upper Room

KiD CuDi & Dot Da Genius – Perfect Is The Word

Alright I’ll be honest here. The only reason I’m posting this is because I want to hear everyone’s opinion on it. So after reading this and giving it a listen, feel free to drop a comment and tell us how you feel. CuDi announced awhile ago that he was done with rapping and moving into a more rockish type genre. Well, he wasn’t kidding. Cudder revealed his latest song last night on his twitter. At first listen, I was kinda thinking where the hell did Cudder go? You can tell from his second album, MOTM2, that he was taking a different direction in his music and it was a good direction! But this song? I’m not to sure. In his defense, I will always support him as we are both from Cleveland and Cudder is one of my favorite artists.

Kid Cudi Changes Band Name, Announces New Label

Since Sunset has been down, I haven’t been able to keep yall up to date on my lover, the Cudder. I’m sure you’ve kept up on your own, because, like me, you want to marry the man as well. If that’s the case, though, back off…he’s mine. Anyway, in the past few weeks, Cudi has taken initiative in creating a Tumblr blog, announcing that he’s parting ways with Emile and Plain Pat, forming a rock band named Wizard, and … quit smoking weed. One might ask, what the hell has happened to the Lonely Stoner? Well, that’s a good question, frankly. The latest news is that he has trashed the name Wizard for his band with Dot Da Genius, and now plans to call the group 2 Be Continuum.  He has chosen to release the debut works via his own record label, Wicked Awesome Records.

If you ask me, Cudder needs to go back to smoking his weed. 2 Be Continuum? Wicked Awesome Records? Sounds like something a stoner would have thought was funny; considering he’s not smoking anymore, seems he’s not nearly as creative without the influence of the green bud.

As far as how I feel about the music? I’m actually really excited to hear what they pump out. I think Cudder is a better singer than a rapper, so maybe this will bring more songs like The Prayer and less songs with Cudi rapping using words that don’t really rhyme and a flow that doesn’t really make much sense. I know, it sounds like I’m bashing my lover, but really, I’ve always liked his sing-songy tunes more than his heavy rapping ones. Still love my man, though.
