Haven’t done a Mashup Monday in a hot minute, but the time has come, my friends! Back on my grind, and in need of some good party tunes, so why not turn to mashups, naw mean? Hit the jump for a whole list of the best mashups I could get my hands on.
1. Nate Belasco – Black Skinhead x Elephant (Kanye West x Tame Impala)
2. Ricky Cervantes – Forever This Young (Avicii & Aloe Blacc x The Knocks x TheFatRat)
3. DJ BAHLER – Summer Luv (The Knife x Ashanti x Fat Joe)
Figured it was time to refresh the Mashup Monday artwork. Bears are cool, right? I’ve been kind of into them lately. Hit the jump for your fill of this week’s top mashups!
1. The Scars of Your Love [Purity Ring + Adele + e-dubble + John Legend] – DJ Bahler
2. Get It On Night By Night (Chromeo vs Marvin Gaye) – Mashed and Confused
This week, I opened up submissions to all fans of the Sunset Facebook page. I had to moderate a little bit, because I can’t say I loved all of them, but most of them were total gems. I might have to do that more often, so if you’re a big fan of mashups and want to submit yours/a friend’s/your favorite, keep an eye out on the Facebook page! Hit the jump to see the full collection!
1. Nilson vs Third Party Feat. RHCP – Otherside (3LAU Edit)
3LAU just created an absurd banger out of some Red Hot Chili Peppers for us. If this isn’t one of the bigger party sounds of the hour, I’m not sure what is. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw this resurface again on this week’s 5 Best Dance Songs of the Week. Killer job by 3LAU.
2. Dear Vagabond (Freelance Whales x Steve Miller Band x Styx x Wolfmother x The Beatles) -ScottScottScott
There’s an introduction on this song that you can skip by downloading the MP3 file here, but a mashup with Freelance Whales and The Beatles was absolutely necessary to include. Again I find myself a victim of the mashups with the lesser-mashed songs. That is, no Krewella. Despite the copyright infringement, well done, ScottScottScott.
Hit the jump for more mashups!
I nearly forgot it was Monday today, as I’m enjoying a nice 9-day vacation. If you’re reading this and you’re still in school, appreciate any vacation you get. That shit doesn’t exist for more than a couple days in the real world. Just thinking about the fact that I used to have 3 1/2 week spring breaks in high school makes me cringe. What a lucky little shit I was. Anyway, onto the mashups. Apparently these guys have the power to make some people smile, so I’ll do my best to stay on top of them more. Here’s this week’s batch.
1.Call Me Maybe x Somebody That I Used To Know (Carly Rae Jepsen x Gotye & Kimbra) – Music Pomplamoose
This is just a lethal pairing. You can try to say that you are so sick of these songs by this point, you want to smash your head into a pile of bricks when you see the title, but it’s a whole new experience when you listen to them together. Oh. My. God. I’m. Drunk. Already.
2. Wallphones (Maroon 5 // Sultan & Ned Shepard) – The White Panda
We haven’t heard from The White Panda for a couple of months, but I was excited to see a new submission from them. These are those two white dudes who wear panda masks. Then again, what white dudes don’t wear masks on stages these days? Check out Sunset’s interview with The White Panda.
3. Grown Up Has No Trigger (Danny Brown x The Dirty Projectors) – The Hood Internet
Danny Brown is the shit. First he brings back an old school hip hop sound. Then he makes it cool for black kids to have hair like Skrillex too. THEN, he goes and makes it cool to have not just one but ONE AND A HALF of your front teeth missing!
4. Bruneaux – Yellow Musik (DJ BAHLER Remash) [Coldplay x Lil Wayne x Phoenix]
Here’s an older, chill tune from our boy BAHLER that I skipped over when I wasn’t able to post Mashup Mondays every week. My fault; this is a gem.
5. Empire Heart of Gold (Neil Young x Jay-Z) – GenErik
The Neil Young original will always remind me of Forrest Gump. Who’s going to take mashups to the next level and create a remix of Forrest Gump that’s tricked out with bitches, grills, chains, and Hennessy?
6. Capture My Attention (Madeon // Paramore // Lights // Chromeo) – TeeTs
This song doesn’t really capture my attention (ew, sorry…honestly didn’t intend for that pun, despite my undying love for puns) until around 1:15 when Chromeo came into the mix (pun*ked again), but that’s about when I jumped off the couch and started jumping around the room and punching the air. Just kidding.
7. Try Me Wild Ones ft. Carly Rae Jepsen (Flo Rida x Sia x Miami Life x Cahill x Nicole Scherzinger) – John Kim (Eu4Ya)
Bring back the bricks. Carly Rae again. But it’s just so good! Download here.
8. 21 (Max Burnside Mashup)
21 tracks in one mashup. Don’t see many of these anymore, but I was happy to see this. It’s a little ADD, but then again, so am I, so who am I to judge? Unison – Porter Robinson x Only Girl In The World – Rihanna x All You – The Cataracs ft. Waka Flocka Flame x We R Who We R – Ke$ha x Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO x Lights – Ellie Goulding x I Wanna Dance With Somebody – Whitney Houston x Rolling Stone T-Shirt – Dada Life x Please Don’t Go – Mike Posner x A Milli – Lil Wayne x Power – Kanye West x Snapback’s Back – Tyga x Marvin & Chardonnay – Big Sean ft. Kanye West x Calling (Losing My Mind) – Ingrosso & Alesso ft. Ryan Tedder x Money Makin’ – Dillon Francis & A-Trak x Let’s Go – Calvin Harris ft. Ne-Yo x Spectrum – Zedd x Call Me Maybe – Carly Rae Jepsen x Fade Into Darkness – Calvin Harris x Last Friday Night (TGIF) – Katy Perry x Wild Ones – Flo Rida ft. Sia
Yo, shout out to Arjun for this one. That boy is one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. Did yall know that? Also, this mashup is dope.
Before putting this together, I stopped for a second and tried to figure out what edition of Mashup Monday this is. I thought about it for about 5 seconds, and then immediately stopped and figured that’s not the best use of my time. But if any of you out there want to scroll all the way back in the Mashup Monday category and do the math from there, please be my guest. I’d love to know!
Anyway – apologies for missing a couple Mashup Mondays lately. Turns out Mondays are a pretty busy day of the week. Who knew, huh? Here are some tunes to get you through the week. Oh and did yall know that The Jane Doze are going to be DJ’ing at the Grammy’s this year? That’s pretty awesome, considering the first time I posted their music, they were essentially unheard of.
2. “Five” (Mylo x FreeSol x Justin Timberlake x Calvin Harris x Archie V) – DOSVEC
3. “Lotus Flower Theory” (Wale x Miguel x Washed Out x RAC x Birdy x John Lennon – DJ Fergie Ferg
4. “You Said Forever” (Ratatat x Gotye x Whitney Houston x Broke For Free x Bloc Party x The Shins) – DJ BAHLER*
5. “Hey, Breathe Out” (Britney Spears x Skrillex x Taylor Swift) – The Jane Doze & DJ BAHLER
*This actually goes against a lot of what I’ve been saying lately, which is to avoid remixing a song that’s perfect as it is (hinting at a lot of the songs on this mix), but it’s just such an interesting collection of songs, and so far from the norm of today’s mashups, that I had to post it and see what you guys thought of it.
You know what I remembered today? California is the shit. It is January 9th and it is sunny and mid-50’s outside. This is Heaven. But that might just be shit girls say.
So Halloween’s on a Monday this year, which is kind of a bummer, but that’s no excuse not to have a good time. Here’s a few songs to help you guys get your Hallowomp on.
Sampling Halloween, The Legend of Zelda, Designer Drugs, and the Bloody Beetroots among others, Bahler throws Three 6’s classic “I’d Rather” acapella to make a crazy Halloween fueled womper. Spooky sample at the beginning, digging it.
I posted some Aylen the other day, and he just dropped this new one for Halloween. With a crazy, pounding bass line, Aylen mixes just the right amount of high notes from Thriller to make a certifiable club anthem. He just throws down on this song, Aylen’s got crazy potential.
Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters. Everyone loves that shit. Womp.
That piano riff from Halloween scares me to death whenever I hear it. Like, to a strange extent. Gives the heebie jeebies know what I’m sayin? Urban Assault throws some ridiculous drums and synth into this mix and just goes ham.
The fact that someone made a dubstep (or “drumstep”) remix of Beetlejuice is hilarious to me. Figure goes all out with the wobbles on this one, using a lot of cool samples from Beetlejuice that remind me of watching that movie back in the day.

People have been asking me lately if Mashup Mondays are no longer. It aint so, folks. Unfortunately, I’ve just been extremely busy, and of course, The Bachelorette took up some of my time on Mondays. Not ashamed. I’m back, though, and here to share some great mashups.
1. Yoni – “Taylor’s Beach House”
2. DJ Bahler – “One More Day”
Featuring Nas, Kanye West, The Pixies, Tokyo Police Club, and Maxence Cyrin
3. Tievoli – “Party Shots”
Featuring LMFAO, MSTRKRFT, NORE, and DJ Mangoo
After ranting last week that I wasn’t getting many good mashup submissions, a ton of them came flooding into my inbox, and I picked out the standouts for this week’s Mashup Monday. My favorite might be DJ BAHLER’s, but mainly because I love anything Gayngs-related. “Faded High,” in particular. And then drop James Blake, Bon Iver and Sufjan in there as well? Ahhh…swooooooooon! #WeakAtTheKnees
First up: “We Major Stars” (Joneses Remix) – Kanye West x Bag Raiders x The xx
Up next: “Love Me” (Gayngs x Hadouken! x Two Door Cinema Club x Owen Pallett x The Cataracs x Sufjan Stevens x Paul Wall x James Blake x Bon Iver x Britney Spears x Tiesto x The Ruby Suns) – DJ BAHLER
Fourth: “All of the Lights²” (Ellie Goulding vs Portland Cello Project vs Kanye West) – The Hood Internet
The Hood Internet – All Of The Lights (Ellie Goulding x Portland Cello Project x Kanye West) by hoodinternet
Fifth: “Last Knuckle” (Big Sean vs Man Man) – The Hood Internet

My old buddy DJ Bahler hit me up this fine Wednesday morning with a remix he did that blends Kanye’s Power, Paper Diamond’s remix of Power, Gambino’s Freaks and Geeks, and a few other songs. Basically, filth multiplied by filth equals exponentially larger amounts of filth. BAHLINNNNNNNN’
Download “Let Go (Parisian Nightsuit)”
Styles has been posted on Womp Womp Wednesday posts a few times now, and I really dig his glitch sound. He makes some pretty crazy womp noises (IE that frog sound), and almost all of his remixes make me want to get in a moshpit and just lose it. This is definitely a track I will drop live next time I spin.
Download “Knuck if You Buck”
So I’m a HUGE Skrillex fan (which is ideal because he’s going to Lollapalooza and I will probably have media passes to Lolla again this year), and I know SoniXx has remixed a few of his songs, but this might be my favorite of his remixes. I really like the vocal samples in this song, especially the “CALL 911!” part. Dopeness.
