The annual Coachella Music and Arts Festival, held in the desert town of Indio, California has released this year’s complete lineup. Being one of the earlier festivals on the calendar year, Coachella typically sets the tone for the festival circuit which includes other megafests like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands. Doubling down on headliner reunions this year, Coachella will bring back dance troupe LCD Soundsystem as well as rock legends Guns N’ Roses. Calvin Harris rounds out the star studded weekend.
Other notable acts include Ellie Goulding, Sufjan Stevens, JackU, Ice Cube, Disclosure, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Halsey, Major Lazer, Flume, Beach House, The 1975, and Miike Snow.
The first weekend of Coachella will take place from April 16 – 18, with the second weekend following up on April 22 – 24.
What are your thoughts on this year’s lineup? Who would you be most excited to see? Who could you pass on?
Indio, California must be beaming right about now. Coachella Music Festival, situated in the sunny SoCal desert, has just released it’s 2015 lineup. The three-day fest will anchor its setlist with top bills of AC/DC, Jack White, and Drake.
Other major acts include Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Alesso, Alabama Shakes, Nero, Axwel Ingrosso, alt-J, Ratatat, Hozier, Florence and the Machine, Kaskade, David Guetta, and St. Vincent among others.
Weekend 1 takes place from April 10 – 12, and Weekend 2 wraps up the festival from April 17-19.
Ticket sales go live tomorrow.
With the first weekend of Coachella just days away, it’s no secret that the must-see performance of the festival is OutKast on Friday night. The dynamic duo is celebrating their 20th anniversary and haven’t hit the stage together in years. Muse and Arcade Fire will be sure to hold it down as the other two top bills on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, but what everybody else?
If you’re heading down to the desert this weekend, be sure to check out these other great non-headlining acts.
Sexy and sultry, Banks’ mysterious sound will remind you of a female version of the Weeknd. This alternative r&b songstress hails from L.A., so expect a hometown crowd cheering her on.
The young crooner from New Zealand absolutely took over the charts last year with her moody, yet pop-friendly hits. Although she’s only 17, she’s helmed the spotlight smoothly, playing on stages as big as the Grammy’s. Plus, her awkward, jerky dance movements are a sight to be seen.
5. Chance The Rapper
Hailing from Chicago, Chance has made big waves off a couple of mixtapes that have landed him features with the likes of Lil Wayne and Justin Bieber. But where the young MC really shines is under the stage lights. His raw energy and passion is contagious.
4. Calvin Harris
If you’ve been out to any bar, venue, stadium or outing in the past couple of years, chances are you’ve danced foolishly to a Calvin Harris jam. The Scottish DJ just knows how to make a crowd move, and the Sahara Tent will be no exception.
Beck is a true living legend. Making his rounds in the 90s, Beck infused hip-hop, soul, funk and rock with seamless ease. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to see a this veteran, American musician in sunny California.
Love him or hate him, Skrillex knows how to throw a party. The energy he brings to his shows is infectious and his drops will definitely melt your face off. Be ready to rage if you’re going to catch this set on Saturday.
1. Pharell Williams
Skateboard P has been sculpting pop’s landscape for the past couple of decades, but this past year has been his best yet. His slot at Coachella should be a surefire party of number one hits. Don’t be shocked if he brings a surprise or two on stage with him either. The guy has probably worked with half of the festival’s lineup, after all.
Tonight, we finally got an official offering of Coachella’s 2014 lineup. As expected, OutKast will be reuniting on the main stage to kick things off Friday night, with Muse and Arcade Fire as the other top bills on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
The list goes on and on with big name acts including Lorde, Beck, Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams, MGMT, Skrillex, Ellie Goulding, Kid Cudi, Lana Del Rey, Empire of the Sun, Queens of the Stone Age and Nas among others.
Who would you guys be most excited to see?

Remember when Coachella was just a dinky music festival in a desert where people went to
do drugs listen to music and hang out in the sun? Those days are over. Coachella has now stretched its imagination and has expanded to a COACHELLA CRUISE. No, scratch that. TWO Coachella Cruises! Both trips will leave from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and the first voyage will be a 3-day trip to the Bahamas, the second will be a 4-day trip to Jamaica. The lineup has been released, and some of the artists include Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Girl Talk, Sleigh Bells, El-P, and more (see the poster above). Oh, and there are still more artists to be announced. Tickets are going for $500 and that includes a cabin on the ship, food, and…obviously…entertainment. Follow @sscoachella on Twitter for more information.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve been trying all day to access coachella.com. To no avail. The website is down, likely because they are gearing up for an enormous wave of traffic this Friday, January 13th, when tickets to Coachella 2012 go on sale on Coachella.com. For now, we’re left sitting and staring (perhaps drooling) at the lineup that they just released, immediately shutting down rumors that were started by fake accounts who let loose their own versions of the Coachella 2012 lineup. This right here is the official lineup.
The festival will take place over the course of TWO weekends. The first is April 13-15 and the second is April 20-22. Lineups will be the same over the course of two weekends; the sole purpose of doing this is for crowd management. Yes. The festival is THAT big of a deal.
Some of the performances that I’m looking forward to most include:
Friday: M83, GIRLS, Madeon, Frank Ocean, Dawes, Kendrick Lamar
Saturday: Radiohead, Bon Iver, The Shins, Miike Snow, SBTRKT, Azealia Banks, A$AP Rocky, Childish Gambino
Sunday: Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, Florence + the Machine, Avicii, Beirut, The Weeknd, Gotye, Fitz and the Tantrums, Wild Beasts
Perhaps the hidden treasure of the weekend will be Beirut, whose song “Santa Fe” was one of my favorites this year.
MP3: “Santa Fe” – Beirut
Who are YOU most excited to see?
And so we have it. The Kickdrums have released Day 2 of their Coachella mixtape series, “The Indio Sessions: Day 2.” I. Can’t. Wait.
