“Those who dance are considered insane by those who cannot hear the music.”
― George Carlin
Zhu drops a brand new release and he covers one of his favorite artists in CHVRCHES. As usual, it’s nothing short of great. Zhu is making quite a name for himself. Just the other day I heard a remix of Faded on my local radio and was like “holy shit,” it’s Zhu! It’s fun when artists you know that are working hard get that hard earned radio play.
Secret Company, the foursome out of Chelmsford, England, are charging into 2014 with a purpose. I like to think I’m doing the same, but these guys may have me beat. Their latest move was to take a swing at “Gun,” popular song by 2013 breakout band CHVRCHES. Secret Company’s version sticks pretty close to the original, though with less of an electronic vibe, the cover feels a bit more organic. And yet, it still manages to feature those catchy reverbed synths and heavy drumlines.
If they continue on this trajectory, Secret Company is destined for international success. They’re being strategic by choosing to cover such a successful young band, but they can back it up with their original single “Saviour,” which has already amassed over 75,000 streams on SoundCloud since it was released 15 days ago. If you haven’t heard it yet, stream “Saviour” below. You may find yourself listening to it on repeat, then singing it in the shower, and then telling your friend about it. This is the essence of a good pop song – powerful vocals, easy to grab lyrics, and an addictive chorus.
