Chip tha Ripper
Mike Posner sent me a link to the next remix he put out today and as soon as I saw the lineup on the song, I got all jittery inside. I knew it would be a fun one, but was worried about it sampling Started From The Bottom. I was relieved when I heard that it sounds very little like Drake’s own “Started From The Bottom,” as it’s really minimalist piano as the instrumental. The song then builds into a full band collaboration, which is really fun to watch in the video (featured after the jump). This is a really fun one, and it sounds like they had fun putting it together. One thing I’d ask for is a bit more from Asher Roth, but hopefully Mike and Asher will do a collaboration in the future. Also, I have to say, I love the “Hey Ma” cover section thrown in there. My first listen was a bit mindless as I was doing work simultaneously, and all the sudden I was rapping along, wondering how the hell I already knew the lyrics. It took me a minute, but I figured it out. A little slow today, it seems.

I’m probably making this a bigger deal than it actually is, but I think we’re all extremely happy he’s back to rapping. I’m one of the few that somehow liked WZRD because I appreciate him as an artist and support any direction he decides to take in his music, but clearly, a lot of his fans didn’t feel the same way.
The past is the past. From the sounds of “Just What I Am,” it’s like riding a bicycle for him. I love the new sound. This has the Man on The Moon feel all over it.
Well, damn. Not totally sure what the deal is with The O’My’s, but I can tell you that these four verses are what I needed on a cold, cloudy Saturday such as today. Blended Babies (producer of one of my favorite tracks, “Choices” by Asher Roth featuring Action Bronson) drops off a smooth instrumental for these four big names to go in on, and they do. A couple really big names (Chuck Inglish and Twista), a medium-name (Chip) and a soon-to-be big name (Chance) provide big time for The O’My’s. Not really sure if they helped produce or what, but if they keep giving me tracks like this I don’t really care.
UPDATE: The O’My’s are on the hook. Which makes sense. Sounds like some DJ Khaled ish to me.

Back in March, Chip Tha Ripper released his VERY underrated mixtape “Gift Raps.” We’ve had a few tracks, and a few features from him since then, but this is his first mixtape since “Gift Raps,” and he calls this one “Tell Ya Friends.”
If you’re familiar with Chip, then you will anticipate his typical “weed rap” on here. 22 brand new cuts for your listening pleasures. Download and preview below via DatPiff.
The Almighty GloryUs
Chip Tha Ripper is a strange case, and what I mean by that is, everybody knows who this guy is. I’m from Cleveland so I’ll always support Chip, but even people outside of Ohio know the weed rapper. He just hasn’t seem to catch the “big break.” Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. Time will tell, but until then, Tell Ya Friends to tell a friend that Chip is back!
New one from Chip, produced by the monster Lex Luger.
Not sure if I’m a huge fan of this one, maybe that’ll take a few more listens, but I am a huge fan of both Lex Luger and Chip Tha Ripper so I had to post this one.
Chip just had a song (who, I might add, he literally named “Cash”), and expect the Cleveland native to drop his new tape, Tell Ya Friends, very soon.
Ooh wee…this song is loaded! The Cool Kids drop a surefire, head-bobbing jam from their highly anticipated album “When Fish Ride Bicycles.” Guest appearances by Ash, Chip and Boldy James. Stream their whole album via Facebook here.

Private planes. Dom Perignon at 30,000 feet. Aston Martins, Bugattis, McLarens, Ferraris, and Bentleys. Gucci loafers. Damier print. Welcome to the life. Wealth. Class. #Jets
Curren$y is the ringleader of the #Jets crew, kind of like Wiz has the Taylor Gang. His swag is effortless, his flow is crisp, and this is perfect to listen to when you’re just running things like a boss. Hit the jump for the full tracklist and download link.
“Michael Knight” – Curren$y
Lames catch feelings, we catch jets. Jets, fool.
“We Back Soon” – Lil Wayne
Sittin’ in a Ferrari, thinkin’ bout money/ I swear I will go head up with all o’ y’all/ Bumper cars
One of my favorite Sam Adams tracks, this one has some great rhymes from Sam and has that trademark Spitta flow on it. Great collaboration between Curren$y and sam right here.
“Fly Jets Over Boston” – Sam Adams feat. Curren$y
I’m the three white keys in C, you a minor/ Knew my shit banged when my music hit the highways/ Found out that hardwork pays off, like Fridays
Truth be told, Chip’s flow might very well be my favorite flow in the game right now. Not saying he’s my favorite rapper, but the dude flows like a goddamn faucet.

One of the dopest/ I’m schedule 1 you just ibuprofen
The entire album that this next track is off of, “The Crash Album” by DJ Moondance, is one of the best mashup albums I’ve ever heard. He doesn’t just mash track A and B, rather he takes elements from each song and puts them together. This is my favorite cut off of the album. Effortless swag.
“All-American Party” – DJ Moondance
Brushin’ off my three piece/ I make this look too easy/ So tall and lanky/ My suit, it should thank me/ I make it look good to be this hood/ Meyer Lansky mixed with Lucky Lefty/ Gangster, effortlessly/ Poppa was a rolling stone-its in my ancestry

“Gossip” – Lil Wayne
Stop analyzing, criticizing/ You should realize what I am and start epitomizing/ Legitimate I got the heart of the biggest lion
Chuck Inglish productions are always dope, and with three of the slickest flows over this one, you know it’s going to be nuts. Extra crispy flow from Chip, Spitta, and Sean on this.
“Fat Raps” feat. Curren$y and Big Sean – Chip tha Ripper
Your girl show me L-O-V-E/ I drop the O, and the E/ And just took the LV/ That’s Louis Vuitton luggage every time you see my passport/ Damier print, got me lookin’ like a chess board

“We Major” ft. Kanye West and Nas – Big Z Remixes
Turn nothin’ to something now pimpin’ that’s the Savior/ Best things are green now pimpin’ get your paper/ High off the ground, our status skyscraper
I’m very on and off with Wale. Absolutely hated his last album, but I am definitely a fan of his ability to flow, which is really accentuated on this track. Plus, I love Aston Martins, so swag.
“Aston Martin Music” – Wale
My garments shouldn’t be here, I’m somewhere near the future/ As far as being hard, I feel I’m somewhere near Medusa

”The Number Won Competition” – Wale
Fuck it we on the move/ None of us tryin’ to lose/ I am out of this world/ and you a man on the moon
I was stoked when I first heard this track because I was already a big fan of the song “Walking on a Dream” by Empire Sun. That combined with Wiz, I knew it was going to be dope.
“The Thrill” – Wiz Khalifa
Wake up drunk, go to sleep fucked up
Just some classic, heavy hitting, laid back Lil Weezy. Nothing’s better.
“Lighting Up My Lalala” – Lil Wayne
It’s, Little Wayne Imma shine in the rain/ Now nothing gets cleared without me signing my name/ I’m just, headlining the game/ Won’t stop till I’m/ A Rodding the game, they riding the bench
“Feel Good” – Chip tha Ripper
If you tryna fuck wit me then you better have some commas/ I be wit them OGs i’m probably stuntin wit yo fathaaa
One of my favorite Jay-Z classics with some of that tight Ratatat vibe, all around great track.
“Allure (Jay-Z & Notorious B.I.G.)” – Ratatat
The allure of breaking the law/ Was always too much for me to ever ignore/ I got a thing for them big body Benzes/ Indulge my senses/ In love with a V-Dub engine
Dream Big, Swag Out
Goddamn, I love Chip tha Ripper. He opened up for me on Halloween at the University of Illinois which was a crazy experience, such a great night. Anyways, Chip is by far one of my favorite rappers in the game right now. His flow, his voice…it just always sounds good to me. Plus I love this beat, and I love Chip over it, so needless to say I was very excited when I first downloaded it. Excuse the vulgarity.
He will be releasing Gift Raps on March 1st, and Chip is definitely on his #nodaysoff right now, releasing a ton of free material.
On my third song of the day. I’m goin in wit deez raps. Gotta good vibe n my life so finally i can work like I wanna. Thanx yall-Chip’s status, January 28th
Gift raps is one of my most anxiously anticipated mixtapes of the new couple of months. I can guarantee that it will be amazing, and I sincerely hope Chip gets the recognition he deserves.
Gift Raps is not an “Album” or an “EP” or a “Mixtape”….its just a GIFT…..of RAPS-Chip
