[Introduction] StartYourOwnRebellion
In the time that Sunset in the Rearview was down, a name seemed to surface that needs to be on your radar: StartYourOwnRebellion. They’re signed to J. Cole’s label, Dreamville, which automatically raises their reputation in my book. The most impressive song I’ve heard yet features J. Cole himself, called “Let it Go.” I think I love everything about this song. I’m expecting it to get very heavy rotation in my iTunes.

StartYourOwnRebellion isa virtual band (like Gorillaz). They’ve got four members: 2 vocalists (Maza and Kid.Digit-Ø) and 2 producers (07017 and Ceddy). They’ve recently released a mixtape that’s full of vocals placed over Ratatat instrumentals. I love how much Ratatat is being seen in hip hop these days. Here’s a sample song from the mixtape:
