Music that allows you to hear sounds in a new way really fascinates me. It’s almost an overwhelming takeover of your senses that is unprecedented and jarring, but at the same time intriguing and satisfying. In this Nicolas Jaar take on a Shlohmo song, I’m hearing the crackles of walking on a countryside rocky path become musical, and magically it becomes an incredible sound. It becomes smoother and the song treads on, and the crackles morph into something that sounds water-logged and drowsy. It’s hard to put this song into one story, because it holds so many different narratives tied together beautifully by Nicolas Jaar and Shlohmo. I’m 100% captivated.
The 12-inch version of Shlohmo’s Vacation EP will include this remix along with others. It will be released February 28th via Friends of Friends.
