There are some things that totally surprise me. Like the first time I heard Nolan Smith interviewed and realized he sounded like a pre-pubescent boy who’s probably still chuckling about 69 jokes on a field trip bus. Or the time I found out that Tracy Chapman is a girl. Today it’s the lyrics of this sweet-sounding song, “Blah Blah Blah,” by Say Hi To Your Mom. I hadn’t ever heard of this band until this morning, but as I was sitting on the bus dozing off to the sounds of some music, I found this song to be particularly soothing. Until I realized what the main singer was saying over and over again…”And I am gonna drink your blood.” Whoa. What? I mean, I guess vampires and zombies are trendy and shit, but damn…I wasn’t expecting that. But I’m listening again to make sure I heard it right. And then I’m listening again because I still like the sound. And again.
