One of my favorite K-Os songs comes out with a video! And I love it! I think I had a smile on my face the whole time…the Western style got me laughing and I found myself thinking the whole time, man these guys just look like fun. Oh and I love the gas pump in the rear part of the car. Classic. K-Os may wish he knew Natalie Portman, but I wish I knew him!

“Center of Attention (Bonus Track)” - Wale

I’m assuming a lot of yall went and bought/copped Wale’s album that just came out (Attention Deficit). Depending on your means of “purchase,” you may or may not have gotten this bonus track by Wale. Must say, this is one of the better beats I’ve heard Wale rap over in a while. And the subject/content seems similar to what Mike Posner and Big Sean sing/rap about in “Speed of Sound.” Fame isn’t as gold-coated as it seems.

If you really want to mellow out, check this song out. Bonus: it comes as a free 7” download with the other song being a cover (“Doctor” - The Five Discs cover). The soft hand drumming and the harmonica on “The Screens” are extremely soothing. “Doctor,” on the other hand (/side, ha) is upbeat and very oldies sounding.

New Hot Chip! And here I am, thinking, just by listening to the first few seconds of the song…great, not anywhere near as good as I was expecting. A little dark, off…not feeling it. THEN THE CHORUS COMES. Could be one of my favorite choruses I’ve heard in a while! Ohhh Hot Chip, pulling people in with the switch from minor to major chords and sweet harmonization. Then throw in some gentle piano playing at the end-they know how to win my heart. HOT CHIP: FTW!!!!!

“Forever” - Drake, Kanye, Weezy, Eminem…TRAVIS BARKER REMIX

Okay so hear me out. I am not usually one to notice a drummer or what he/she is up to back there. But then I saw this video. Understand that I knew Travis Barker was an outstanding drummer by reputation, but like…this blew me away. My first thought? How are his arms not about to fall off after playing one song? Other thoughts-look at how many drum pads he has in front of him! And it seems he could do it all with his eyes closed. Favorite part, for those who don’t want to watch the whole thing…at the end…catch the end of Em’s verse and his final run with the hook. As bizarre as this may sound, Travis’s drumming on the last hook almost mirrors Eminem’s flow in his verse. And he really puts on a show at the end. This is really something else. Again, all coming from a girl who never pays much attention to the drums.

I teared up during the preview! And I rarely cry during movies. Precious is only on the big screen in select cities right now but will be showing worldwide starting November 20th. This film is presented by Oprah and Tyler Perry and on opening day theaters were packed. Can’t wait until it comes to a theater in Durham.
