“Under The Sheets” (Chiddy Bang Remix) - Ellie Goulding

Situation 1: You are sort of hip. Chic, if you will. You like this new wave of female artists in popular music. You’re a fan of La Roux, Little Dragon, Little Boots, Laura Veirs, jj…the list goes on. Some good music, but nothing too party-driven. You might want to throw on a playlist for a party you’re putting together, but damn…none of your songs really fit the role. So you turn to remixes. Lord knows there are enough of those out there. Well, here’s one you must get your hands on. Xaphoon Jones adds a dope beat to Ellie Goulding’s song, and Chiddy raps on top of it and tears it up. So there you have it. Your needs and desires are fulfilled, no? If you disagree, you can let me know, but I’m not sure you’ll be able to make the case for that.

Situation 2: You like hip hop music, and you’re trying to dabble in some of this music that’s rolling around the top music blogs. A lot of that is indie and electropop inspired, and if it isn’t sung by a falsetto-voiced male, it’s likely sung by a female. Well, the first step toward grasping that might be listening to this song and warming up to it. Chiddy Bang is becoming a respected hip hop duo and Ellie Goulding is in that new wave of artists who you should be aware of.

If you don’t fit in either of those situations, you can narrate your own story, but I have a feeling many people who like the music I post will like this song. I think it’s a perfect balance of the two genres, Xaphoon dropped a great beat, and the hip hop is good. I’ll put it on my party playlist for the next party I have that isn’t quite a rager but also isn’t just a girls night. That’s a lot of middle ground, and this covers most of it.
