Midi Matilda is an indie-pop duo, consisting of two guys from the Bay Area. Honestly, I don’t want to say too much. I think this is a group that will be big very, very soon. The few tracks they’ve released are instantly infectious pop gems in the same vein as Foster The People and even Sweden’s Miike Snow. “Day Dreams” features an impressive falsetto vocal performance (à la Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit), while “Red Light District” gives off a more Vampire Weekend meets The Postal Service vibe. But seriously, this duo is the real deal. You can download their two newest releases below, and check out a few other songs on their Bandcamp page.
WAIT! Before you go, you should check out the music video for “Day Dreams.” It’s pretty cool. Here’s what the band had to say about it:
This music video is unlike any video you have ever seen. It was shot over 10 nights in San Francisco and Berkeley, CA. The music video was filmed in a studio and then projected onto thousands of surfaces around the cities. Each frame of the video was captured with a photo. 3,300 photos.
