John Helix is a young English professor who moonlights as an enigmatic bedroom pop impresario. With most days spent intrenched in the nuances of history and language, Helix utilizes his nighttime recording sessions to air his flair for tongue-in-cheek lyrics and double entendre. Thankfully, he is an extremely musical intellectual who allows his smart songs the kind of delightfully retro musical arrangements that hark back to The Beatles and Elliot Smith. Helix’s album Chronic Happiness will be out March 6th and is jam packed with gems like his single “I Don’t Speak Los Angelese”.
