This is a glorious time for the music industry. While major record labels continue to wage their war against platforms like SoundCloud, more and more independent record labels and collectives championing the emerging artist are gaining traction. With artists like Manila Killa, Jai Wolf, and Mark Johns, the West Coast-based Moving Castle Collective has already established itself as one of dance music’s most promising group of young artists in the future arena as they continually push out quality material.
Chet Porter is one of the more unknown artists on the Moving Castle roster, and one of my personal favorites, but what he lacks in star power, he more than makes up for in production skill. With summer quickly coming to a close, the Toronto native is ushering in fall with his latest deliverance, a remix of fellow up-and-comer, Hitmane’s “Over U.”
Big, atmospheric percussion kicks punch you right in the face from the get-go, as Chet Porter intricately weaves sparkling synth melodies with a bubbly bass line and soft, soothing string arrangements that gives his remix of “Over U” an undeniable beauty. With the weekend right around the corner, cruise over to the beach and let this remix be the soundtrack to the last few days of summer.
