Flying Through Summer – Sunset Mixtape

Friday night. Typically a night dedicated to the bars, the beer-soaked counter tops that you throw yourself upon just to claim an eye-to-eye connection with the tender behind the bar, the pavement sidewalks meant for carousing up and down until you find the perfect bar situation. A night full of the tired souls who are contractually obligated to work 40 hours a week, most of whom would love to be working those hours, but reality puts them closer to 60. People looking to find new friends, laugh with their old ones, and make it home sometime before sunrise. Friday nights are a release from a long week. Sometimes, though, there’s no better way to spend these nights than to unwind with some incredible music, a glass of wine, and a comfortable spot on the couch. That’s how I spent my night last night, and it dawned on me that I have a huge collection of great music that I’ve been meaning to share on Sunset in the Rearview, but haven’t gotten around to posting it all. What’s a music blog for if not sharing music? So I decided it’s time to put together another Sunset in the Rearview mixtape.

This mixtape isn’t all new music. You’ll see, for example, that the Bon Iver song is actually from his first album, even though he just released his second album. These are just songs that are resonating with me right now and songs that I think sound nice together. These songs have been streaming through my headphones for a good time now, often on repeat. I hope you guys love them as much as I do.
