Death Cab – Underneath The Sycamore [Music Video]
Death Cab For Cutie is one of those indie bands in my mind that will always stand out. If I see that they’ve put something new out, I automatically listen to it. Perhaps because they had such an effect on me years ago, or perhaps because I just love the sound of lead singer Ben Gibbard’s voice. It’s probably both. Thing is, though, I didn’t love their latest album, Codes and Keys. It started off strong and then it tapered off into something that just didn’t sound enough like Death Cab for me to really get into it. But when I saw today that they released a video for their song “Underneath The Sycamore,” I was willing to give it another try. Sure enough, I’m intrigued. These animated videos really do it for me–the amount of work and design that goes into these videos is outrageous. That right there is enough to suck me in. But though I’m not sure I fully understand the concept of this video, it’s mysterious, all leading up to an ending that is both shocking and, well, heartbreaking? See for yourself. What do you think?
