Colossal Gospel – Bloody Boat [Folk]

I received an email yesterday from Colossal Gospel that started out by saying “Some days you just want some softer folk music.” Man, if that aint the truth!
Somebody said to me the other day that “music, like nothing else, can transport you places that you forgot existed.” Again, so true. Folk music really tends to do this, perhaps because of its warm, fire-side feeling I tend to get when listening to it, or perhaps because there are often choral singing verses, which reminds me of my childhood days when I was forced to go to chapel services where choirs would sing, and as boring as it seemed, the music truly was beautiful. I’m sure a large part of the demographic of Sunset readers don’t consider folk a favorite of theirs, but if somebody’s willing to put up the argument that folk music isn’t beautiful, I’m all ears. Tell me the quivering in their voices isn’t breathtaking. Or the acoustic plucking. Or the echoing, choral vocals. Or the poetic lyrics. To me, this is a terrific example of beautiful music. Bloody Boat by Colossal Gospel
“Bloody Boat” Lyrics:
Though you do not speak
I know you are with me
Broken heart, broken heart
Though I do not bleed
I know blood fills me
Bloody boat, bloody boat
Though my mind is free
It still contains me
Shackled nerves, shackled nerves
Though your words refrain
You can’t sustain me
Hollow verse, hollow verse
Though I still may breathe
My breath will leave me in
Broken earth, broken earth
Though my will concedes
You will not claim me
Holy ghost, holy ghost
