A Blogwave Summer Mixtape: Volume 2
About this time last year, electronic music blog DailyBeatz created a mixtape called Blogwave Summer. It was beautiful; a handful of the best music blogs on the dubdubdub were asked to submit a song that they wanted to claim as “their summer song.” It hit the Internet like a ball of fire — spreading quickly and finding itself the talk of the town. I loved every bit of it. Well, almost. The one thing I didn’t love was that Sunset in the Rearview wasn’t included on it. I cried myself to sleep at night, friends. But of course, I woke up each morning feeling refreshed because I had a whole host of summer songs that lightened my every step.
Wouldn’t you know, summer has returned! I approached it warily, knowing that this time last year I was a bundle of dance moves that drowned themselves in tears when the sun went down. North Carolina has been playing a couple tricks on my mind; some days the sun is shining and the weather is warm, leading me think that surely the splendid season has arrived. Other days, the icy grip of winter returns, sending me back into a dark state of anger, bitterness, and Odd Future obsessions. Nevertheless, the summer reigns supreme. Why? Because one glorious day, I received an email from Chris over at DailyBeatz. Wait…did you hear that? Email from DailyBeatz. In the summertime. Could it be?
Sure enough; it was. I felt like it was raining Dippin Dots and somersaulting kittens. Sunset in the Rearview was asked to pick a song for what was to be a Blogwave Summer VOLUME 2 Mixtape!!!!!
And today, I am here to present the end result to all of you. Now. Readers: if you’re who I think you are, you may sense some sarcasm in this post. But please, refrain from laughing. This is not a laughing matter. This mixtape is the real deal. The question is: are you ready for a fucking incredible summer?
