Around 4 PM (England time), an ambulance was called to a London apartment after reports of a deceased female. Police arrived and saw that it was 27- year old Amy Winehouse. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Although the cause of death has not yet been revealed, there is a big chance it was drug related since she battled public drug and alcohol addictions and had been in and out of rehab throughout the years.
As troubled as Amy was, it is sad to see that she could never get the help she needed. It is also tragic how she died so young; it is never a good thing to see someone die at such a young age. There will be a lot of people sat behind their computer saying, “Suprise, suprise” or shit like that, but the fact of the matter is someone on this earth died today, and no one should be celebrating or making light of the situation.
The one good outcome to this horrible outcome is that young rising stars can take a long look at where they are going in life and see that the party lifestyle is not for them (cough cough: Miley). Lindsay Lohan seems to be going down a very similar path, so maybe this is what makes her wake up and see the reality.
Amy made her addictions public by performing drunk and high at her shows and just looking like a wreck. The only thing people could do is feel sorry for her. She was in horrible condition and if it was suicide, I am glad she is out of misery. Be prepared for people to hop on the Amy Winehouse bandwagon and post songs up on FaceBook. Which of course is a good thing that people are remembering her, but it is interesting to see how things play out after someone who has been out of the limelight for a while dies.
To Amy, her friends and family, I am sure many prayers will be sent your way in the near future. It is horrible you had to die so young, Amy. Let this death serve as an example of how not to live; we can all learn a thing or two from this. It is a shame we never got to see the sober Amy Winehouse, and see how her talent progressed. All I know is, there will never be a voice that sounds anything like how Amy’s did.
In honor of Amy, I will hop on the bandwagon for a second and play one of my favorite songs by her.
