Unite Through Music: Sunset Valentines Mixtape

posted by: Lydia Uncategorized

Happy Valentines Day Weekend to all from sunset in the rear view. I figured since so many people hate Valentines Day, be it because you think it’s a stupid made up holiday, you don’t think Cupid deserves a holiday of his own, you have nobody to buy you flowers or take you out to dinner, or some other reason, I thought I would try to give you a reason to be excited about this Valentines Day. Personally, I am absolutely loving this mixtape. I have spent a lot of time thinking about which songs to put into it, and have listened again and again to make sure to get the order of the tracks appropriately placed. After numerous attempts, I think this order is the perfect one. It starts with smooth and quieter music, opening your ears to what is to come. As the mix continues, the songs get more and more energetic and outgoing, moving from indie, folk, electronic, and pop into hip hop, and then gently closing out with some slower hip hop that is once again mixed with other genres, be it through samples or undertones.

Similar to the Thanksgiving Mixtape from sunset, I believe this mixtape blends all different sorts of music together into one to try to encapsulate my end goal here: to bring together music of all kinds as it is the one thing that unites us all. So instead of being bitter about Valentines Day if you don’t have a date, or grumpy because it’s a silly holiday all-together, remember what does have the power to bring us all together and what will always love you back: music. Enjoy!
