Phil Cook & His Feat – Ballad of a Hungry Mother

posted by: Lydia New Music Daily

Phil Cook

Phil Cook is a member of Durham-based band Megafaun but on the side experiments as a solo folk artist who goes by the name of Phil Cook & His Feat. I’ve been lucky enough to see Phil Cook perform several times, sometimes as Megafaun, other times as a plug-in to bands who need a banjo, piano or guitar player. He’s an incredibly talented musician, and that’s reinforced by his solo efforts under this moniker. Perhaps most intriguing of it all is knowing that this song is part of an eight-song compilation that he recorded in his home in the course of 24 hours while he was iced-in. This is an instrumental track that makes me want to put my feet up, close my eyes, and take a trip through the memories of my past.

Credit to Trekky Records for the track and New Music Collaborative for reminding me to post it.
