Mike Stud – College Humor

mp3: “College Humor” – Mike Stud
All you gotta do to be successful these days is throw on a Duke jacket. If you didn’t go to Duke, you might as well buy a Duke jacket and atleast pretend you did! First, Mike Posner threw on a Duke jacket. Sure, he abandoned it for a little while, but then he threw it back on again in this video. Anthem told it like it is in this song, “Dear Duke.” Just putting it out there – you MUST go to Duke to be successful.
Okay, so maybe not EVERYBODY agrees with what I just said. Yeah yeah, some Duke kids are crazy. They’re really good at working in Power Point. Whatever, didn’t everybody have to get good at that in high school? I only mean Power Point…don’t even go there. Sometimes Duke kids get themselves tangled in situations that involve strippers or those things that take place before football games. Some Duke kids are weird and like to sleep in the freezing cold to see guys throw balls into a nylon net. But let’s not worry about all that. No time for pettiness.
What really matters is that Duke kids like to have fun, they like college, and perhaps thanks to a course offered at Duke called Hip Hop Appreciation, Duke kids can rap. Mike Posner started off a rapper. Anthem is busting out on the scene as a rapper. And this kid right here, Mike Stud? He’s jumping onto the DC hip hop scene on his spare time while he’s in grad school. Even Wale said he’s liking Mike Stud’s flow! Mike Stud may be highlighting that silly stuff y’all hear about Duke, but at least he makes it sound good!
Keep your eye on this guy – I haven’t loved his stuff in the past, but this song might have changed my mind. If he keeps rapping about girls he sleeps with and how he’s just in it for the game and the money…see ya later, Mike Stud. If he continues to showcase a fun flow and sample good music or maybe even create some original music that is nice on the ears, I’ll take it anyday. What comes in the future will determine my official stance on Mike Stud’s music. Sample on this one comes from Ratatat’s “Beat One.”
[Shout out to Bingo Balls for the mp3]
