“Secrets” – Silver Swans

I just took a short nap, one of the ones where every few minutes you wake up to one of your limbs twitching or your head abruptly nodding. This song by San Francisco’s Silver Swans is reminiscent of a dream. Singer Ann Yu’s voice has a whispery sound that sends me right into the land of bizarre transitions and faceless characters. It has an ethereal sound to it. Something about it just works – the dreamy vocals and the synth-riddled instrumentals complement each other well. I just wish the song had a more traditional structure to it – that might add another minute or so to a song that seems to end too abruptly.
