Radical Face – Welcome Home, Son
“Welcome Home, Son” – Radical Face

One of the first things I remember learning is not to judge a book by its cover. But why the hell not? A cover is the only visual thing that makes a book stand out in the store. Other than, perhaps, an Oprah’s Book Club sticker. Same thing when I go to the record store and am looking for music that I’ve never heard of – the album art means a lot to me.
Well, luckily I’m not quite as prejudiced when it comes to judging an artist by his/her appearance. Because if I only saw the pictures of Ben Cooper, a 24 year old who performs under the name of Radical Face, I might avoid his music for fear of being hit with head-banging heavy metal. Google image search Radical Face, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Very odd pictures, a little creepy. But his music is so far from that. Soft, sweet, warm experimental folk music. Makes me want to cuddle up by a fire with a warm cup of tea and a book (likely one with good cover art).
I stumbled across Radical Face over on The Music Ninja and immediately put both ”Welcome Home, Son” and “Doorways” in a playlist that gets multiple rotations. I may have just found ANOTHER new favorite artist.
